The Millennial Curve Evaluation has been developed and continuously improved to help Academy M measure Millennial experiences in relationship to technology, internet connectivity, social media and pop culture. By using the Curve Evaluation, Academy M is able to predict, which pairing of mentors and mentees will have the most success by pinpointing the experience intersection point for between mentors and mentees. Intersection points are key because they provide a snapshot of how well a mentor and mentee will communicate with one another during the course of their relationship. Mentoring relationships with little to no mentee intersection points struggle to build rapport and typically fail within days or weeks, forcing both the mentor and mentee to end the relationship due to poor communication and rapport.
To better understand how Academy M prevents this by using the Millennial Curve Evaluation, we have organized five examples of simulated mentor/mentee pairings below, with real data scores from volunteers and mentors who have completed the millennial curve evaluation. By looking over the examples below, you will be able to see how experiences alone, can empowered or destroy the opportunity for effective mentorshp. Here is a recap of the Millennial Curve Classifications to keep in mind when reviewing each example below:
In this example, you'll notice that the intersection point between the Alpha Millennial and the Centennial starts and ends at their shared social experience via social media. This commonality is enough to create synergy, but not enough to guarantee an effective mentorship relationship.
In this example, you can see there no direct or indirect intersection point between the Beta Millennial and Centennial. The 40 point gap between their total experience score in combination with the large gaps in their cultural experience would make this pairing totally ineffective for both the mentor and mentee.
In this example, we can see the value of pairing a mentor and mentee who have both achieved the same Total Experience. There are multiple strong intersection points between both centennials, starting from internet experience and reaching its zenith through share cultural experiences. This would make an excellent pairing.
In this example, we're able to see that the dissimilarity of two Millennials both in their thirties, but with two completely different experience scores. There are no intersection points and the 49 point gap in their experience score would is indicates pairing these millennials would be a disaster, for both the mentor and mentee.
In this example, we're able to see that the similarity of two Millennials both in their thirties with two similar total experience scores. However when you examined more closely, you can see a slight divergence in social media experience. This divergence is small, but can be significant in terms of communication and collaboration. Lead the two Millennials to misinterpret each others' statements, views and belief systems. Through focused coaching exercises, and lot of developmental training these two can be a powerful collaboration team.
